This tune is kick ass! I wonder why the amp sounds a little like my Randall RG-80? :P

Yep, those other songs you mentioned are some of my faves as well! You know... after I got Tooth & Nail back in the 80's, I couldn't believe the tones George was getting and how he played.

After playing the album over and over again (and I still do), when I saw Randall on the album cover, I thought to myself I HAD to get one. That's when I saw the RG-80 in an ad in a local paper and checked it out and bought it. I didn't know George used that model at the time though.

My favorite Dokken records are a toss up between Tooth & Nail, UL&K, and BFTA. They all ROCK! I still play them ALL of the time.

"don't close your thighs" was a precursor to what became "lightning" and then "scary." is the progression obvious? i hope not...g.

I hear ya...he'll just happen in on things when least expected...nice!

Agreed...great tune and solo. Doesn't seem to matter what he plays through, in terms of an amp, he always seems to dress it well. I think it's definitely one of a handful of things that he'll get huge historical marks for in the end. It's his "life's work", which is serious shit to some.

It also appears that the "spread V" formation is coming back to the NFL...look for it in 2009...

Peace, Rodent

John,

George uses what I call the "wicked" note a lot or the flatted 5th of the minor scale. One lick that I have found that most lead guitarists used is based on the blues pentatonic scale which incorporates the flatted 5th with the minor pentatonic scale. Take a look at this video by Doug Aldrich and you will connect on the mode that George and many others use as there "money" lick. I have been working on it for the last 6 months - it will damn near break your left arm!

Watch the whole video because it is loaded with good stuff!

Joe

Wow! Can Doug shred or what?! Thanks for posting that vid Joe. There is a lot of great stuff in there! I've learned a couple of new licks just listening to it the first time. That vid is now bookmarked! AWESOME guitarist.
